Acupuncture Regulations in Ontario

As of April 1st, 2013 Acupuncture has been regulated in Ontario with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO) and the Regulated Health Professions Act. All Acupuncturists must be an active member of CTCMPAO in good standing to use the title “Registered Acupuncturist”.

This means that we are now part of the mainstream health care team and are recognized by Doctors and other medical professionals. No other modalities, such as Chiropractors, Registered Massage Therapists, Physio Therapists etc, can use the title Registered Acupuncturist unless they are registered with CTCMPAO.

Along with Doctors, Acupuncture is now a health care profession with the legal right to diagnose patients. This shows how important Acupuncture has become in mainstream medicine!
